The project initiator (the) Alliantie Foundation provided the workshop participants with a few starting points to think about:
- the historical and symbolic meaning of the the trajectory Postweg
- the position of the border between the wooded area and the banks of the river
- the contrasting environment of the trajectory: coulisselandschap (landscape at the edge of a wooded area) and built-up areas.

The actual traffic-technical reconstruction is not a point of departure and the projects being developed should have neither a negative effect upon traffic safety nor the flow of traffic. The developed plans should take into careful consideration their own durability, (vandal-proof) and controlled or limited maintenance.

The various projects that the workshop produces may encomplass all art and design disciplines but it is important to remember that the final application/project should be visible from both fast and slow moving vehicles as well as by hikers and cyclists.
