After having worked as the Director of the International Istanbul Biennial from 1994 to 2000, Fulya Erdemci began to work as an independent curator and critic. She curated exhibitions like 'skorpit', Berlin, 1998 (co-curated with Rene Block),'Regrets, Reveries, Changing Skies', Istanbul, 2001, 'Istanbul Pedestrian Exhibitions I: Personal Geographies and Global Maps', Istanbul, 2002, ‘Between the Waterfronts’, Rotterdam , 2002 (co-curated with Ron Mandos), the 25th Sao Paulo Biennial, 'Citades/Cities', Istanbul section, Sao Paulo, 2002 ,'Where?/Here?', Saitama, 2003 (co-curated with Emre Baykal, Vasif Kortun and Yuji Maeyama) and Organized Conflict, Istanbul, 2003 and 'Making of Istanbul Modern' Istanbul, 2004. Together with Emre Baykal and Arzu Yayinta, she co-curated ‘Istanbul Pedestrian Exhibitions 2: Tunel - Karakoy’, 2005. Currently she is working as a freelance curator for the inauguration exhibition of Santral Istanbul which will be opened in November 2006.
She taught at Bilkent University in Ankara in 1994-95, Marmara University in Istanbul in 1998 and has been teaching part-time at Visual Communication Design Department, graduate program, Istanbul Bilgi University since 2000.
